A Life in Art and Color
Julia Jordan is a distinguished American painter recognized for her mastery of light and texture in floral still lifes and Western landscapes. Her career spanned over four decades, leaving a vibrant mark on the art communities of the Mountain West since 1982.
A Journey Through the West
A native of Chicago, Julia studied art in college before working in several other professional fields. Her artistic voice was later shaped by the light of the Southwest while living in Santa Fe in the early 1990s. In 1993, she moved to Denver, where she became a cornerstone of the local creative scene.
Artistic Evolution
Though she began her career working in watercolors, Julia’s style reached its peak after she transitioned to oil painting in the late 1990s. Her time studying under acclaimed artist Quang Ho at the Art Students League of Denver helped define the rich, painterly style that became her hallmark.

Deeply committed to the craft, Julia authored the book “Transparent Painting Techniques: How to Achieve Veils of Luminous Color,” which demonstrates her foundational expertise in watercolor. For many years, she also served as a mentor through workshops at the Foothills Art Center in Golden, Colorado.
